The Holidays

As you know Christmas is right around the corner. This has come to be my absolute favorite holiday. I guess that there's just something about this time of year that puts me in a good mood. I've got to admit it sucks to be far away from family at this time of year, but my friends have become my adopted family. It's always nice to have good people to surround yourself with and to enjoy the season with. Another downer about this year is that we've had no freakin snow!! I mean come on!! We've supposedly got the "Greatest Snow on Earth" but I guess this year the snow's being shy and the state of Utah is not living up to what the liscence plates advertise.
It's all good and I have faith that we will be enjoying a white Christmas and not just dreaming of one.

"The Barn"

For those of you that don't know Utah County too well, let me tell you that sometimes there just aren't too many things to do for fun. I guess there's always the usual movie theater that you could go to, or there's always bowling, or maybe you could build a fire in the canyon with some friends. Every few weeks or so Apex or UVSC will usually have some dance going on....but let's just say that there's a lot more dry humping than dancing going on there, so it's usually not my favorite place to be. But let's be honest who likes to do that all of the time? Definitely not me! Don't get me wrong I love movies and I love bowling and shoot I even like being next to a fire and relaxing with the crew and I have been known for getting down at a dance or two but after a while it just gets old! So after giving all of those options a try I guess you have to get a little creative and find something that will get you and your buds excited. In comes "The Barn".
In a little place called Springville there exists a landmark that my friends and I always refer to as "The Barn". In this quiet little city there exists this creepy barn that has scared the pee out of many of my friends(literally). I'm not sure what it is about this place that's so creepy. Maybe it's the fact that it's by the railroad tracks and there's a possibility that crazy homeless serial killers live there. Maybe it's the fact that the Utah County Juvinile Detention Center is a block away. Maybe it's the fact that there's a rumor going around about the "Phantom Farmer" that protects his precious barn.....or maybe it's because it's a dark and old run-down place. Either way it's one of the places that never ceases to be fun to visit.
In fact this past weekend I took my buds Shea, Ashley, Luke, Mark, and Travis to this place. It was a blast! The place was as creepy as ever! Shea and Ashley refused to get within 25 feet of the building and they were both almost in tears as we tried to force them into the barn. Heck I'll admit that I've been there dozens of times and everytime I'm still a little bit freaked out. I hope that old place never loses its savor, and if one day that place is ever torn down you better believe I'll be there to protest the whole thing! I'll chain myself to that thing if I need to!

Another Weekend

Ever since August it seems that my life has gone in fast forward. The weeks come and go and nothing really is ever accomplished. Last weekend was a little bit different, for once in my life I felt like I had actually accomplished something in life. I went to the wedding of one of my converts in Texas. She got sealed for time and all eternity in the Dallas Temple and as I was there to participate in the ceremony. At that moment I felt like I actually did something good with my life....I felt like I had made a little difference in somebody else's life. It's a feeling I can't really describe with words. I had a lot of time to think while I was there and I thought about how much her life has changed for the better. I don't know why I was one of the people to help in this change but I guess when all is said and done I'll know. I'm not sure which of the two of us got the better deal. Either way I can't complain and I'm just happy that I had the chance to try and help. It was great to see other people that I had taught and to see how much happier they were. Who knew that I'd get to know so many great people in only 2 years?! I'm really lucky I guess.
My buddy Luke is coming down from Idaho. He and I were pretty much attached at the hip for 6 weeks in a little town called Granbury. We had a lot of fun together and this weekend we'll be able to have even more fun because now we don't have to be in bed by 10:30 and awake by 6:30. Oh and now we can actually talk to girls without having to bring up the church, not that there's anything wrong with that :) It should be fun....but we'll see.
